Bangladesh experienced batter Mahmudullah Riyad was ruled out of the side's upcoming New Zealand tour with a shoulder injury, sustained during the ICC Cricket World Cup's last match against Australia in Pune.
To survive from a run out dismissal, Mahmudullah dived to full length which hurt his shoulder badly. Later an MRI, done in Bangladesh, confirmed that he won't be able to be the part of New Zealand tour where Bangladesh will play three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.
The BCB medical department informed that the extent of the injury meant he would have to be sidelined at least five to seven weeks.
Mahmudullah was the highest run-getter for Bangladesh in the World Cup with 354 runs. He had one century and half-century to his name. So he is considered to be the vital cog in New Zealand, especially when Shakib Al Hasan's tour is uncertain due to his finger injury.
Mahmudullah currently is only playing ODI format after retiring from Test and T20 format earlier.
The Tigers will leave the country for New Zealand on December 11. The tour will start with ODI series on December 17 and will end on December 31 with the T20 series.
Beforehand, New Zealand will visit Bangladesh for two-match Test series, starting later at this month in Sylhet.
The first Test is from November 28-December 2 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium while the second and final Test will be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from December 6-10.
