Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations department is expected to hold a meeting with their ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal within a week to settle their next course of action ahead of the approaching Asia Cup, said the operations chairman Mohammad Jalal Yunus.
‘As per the medical directives, Tamim would undergo a full bed rest in the first week upon his return from the United Kingdom. We are due to hold a meeting with him in the meantime to fix the next course of action ,’ said Jalal on Monday.
The country’s veteran opener returned home in the afternoon of the day following his treatment in the UK as he had been suffering from a recurrence of back pain.
However, the southpaw will be assessed by the physiotherapists in the second week of his return to know whether he would be able to vie in the upcoming Asia Cup starts in August 30.
‘Our physiotherapists will assess him in the next week to find out if he is fit enough to play in the regional competition.’
