The Bangladesh Cricket Board is unlikely to issue a No Objection Certificate to Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed for vying in the approaching Lanka Premier League as they want him fully fit during the upcoming Asia Cup that starts on August 30.
BCB chief executive officer Nizamduddin Chowdhury told reporters on Thursday that aside from Taskin, they were all set to issue NOCs for others who managed calls from the various T20 franchise meets.
‘Taskin’s affair about taking part in the Lanka Premier League is still under our consideration,’ said Nizamuddin in Mirpur.
‘Taking his recent participation along with the workload into account, we might be thinking from a different angle regarding his appearance in this edition of LPL. We are proving it [NOC] to the other players.’
It is understood that with the forthcoming Asia Cup and ICC World in mind, the Tiger cricket administration doesn’t want to take any sort of risk concerning the availability of the speed star in the two major meets, as featuring in two franchise competitions in a row might hit Taskin with burnout.
Taskin, who is currently playing for the Bulawayo Braves in the Zimbabwe Afro T-Ten League, got a proposal afresh to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) for Dambulla Aura alongside his national teammate Towhid Hridoy that schedule to be played from July 30 to August 20.
On the contrary Bangladesh national team is expected to start their Asia Cup training on August 8.
Apart from Taskin a number of Bangladesh national team players are taking part in various franchise tournaments all over the world for now, like; batsman Liton Das and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan are currently taking part in the Global T20 Canada League, while Mushfiqur Rahim is playing in the Zimbabwe Afro T10 competition.
BCB CEO termed the circumstances positive for Bangladesh cricket, however, also affirmed that they would have a keen eye regarding their players’ work-load management before they provide NOCs.
‘Of course it is a positive sign that our players have been managing calls from the franchise competitions on a regular basis.’
‘What BCB is doing is planning to issue NOCs considering their workloads of the campaigners who have been picked up by the different franchises from the various contentions.’
