The Bangladesh national women’s cricket team is expected to receive a performance bonus from the Bangladesh Cricket Board thanks to their monumental win against India in the opener of the three one-day internationals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
Bangladesh national women’s team, who never earned a victory as of yet against the defending Asian champions, registered a 40-run win in D/L method over the visitors that helped them to go 1-0 up in the vying.
BCB’s chief executive officer, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, told reporters after the game that they would settle on the women’s team’s performance bonus following the return of their president, who is currently staying abroad.
‘All you know is that the board chief is currently out of the country. Of course there would be something [bonus], as they used to get a bonus after securing a victory,’ said the BCB CEO.
‘On top of that, this sort of win is undeniably something special; therefore, definitely there would be something.’
He further termed the victory a massive one.
‘Of course it was a massive win for Bangladesh women’s cricket. Earlier, they used to lament not having substantial games on a regular basis. All it ended with was the series, and we clichéd a victory over India as well.’
