Given the format of the game and having an acceptable track record in the ODIs Bangladesh women’s team skipper Nigar Sultana termed them favorite when they face their Indian counterparts in the three one-day internationals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The opener of the series will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the Bangladesh Cricket Board will stream the tie live on YouTube.
Apart from that, the last win against the same opponent in the three Twenty20 internationals also guided the host captain' to gain the belief to start the series on a shining note against the visitors.
Bangladesh suffered a 2-1 loss in the T2oIs, which took place at the same ground last week.
‘Of course I consider Bangladesh a favorite as we have registered a victory in the last [T2oI]. That might be a different format, however, I would put us ahead,’ said Nigar on Saturday in Mirpur.
Although the home captain claimed them as favourite against the defending Asian champions in the 50-over game, the statistics depict a grim picture as they failed to secure a single victory over the tourists in their last five meets.
Bangladesh played their lone bilateral series against India back in the 2012–13 calendar year, where they were clean swept by the latters in three match ODIs while they encountered the remaining two ties in two different ICC Women’s World Cups.
The former Asian champions have featured in 54 ODIs as of yet but have won only 14 and lost in the other 35 matches.
‘We used to play the format very well. I also feel that we as a team remain confident. There is more time here [ODI], therefore we can play calculative.’
‘Second of all, since we have a long batting order, each of us prefers to take time to set.’
