Bangladesh women's team earned a consolation win as they registered a four-wicket victory against India in the third and final Twenty20 international at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
Although the hosts lessened the series difference by 2-1, it was their last victory since the 2018 Asia Cup.
Bangladesh opener Shamima Sultana orchestrated the host’s innings, making 42 off 46 balls that helped them reach the target of 103-6 in 18.2 overs, in reply to 102-9 by India.
The hosts required only 18 runs in the last four overs with six wickets in hand.
However, like numerous past occasions, this time as well, they suffered a shock by losing wickets in back-to-back deliveries, with Sultana Khatun falling to Devika Vaidya for 11 and Shamima getting a run-out on 42.
Despite the hitch, Nahida Akter and Ritu Moni held their nerves to pull Bangladesh to the winning threshold with 10 deliveries to spare.
Nahida hit a no-ball and bagged three runs before she capitalized on the free hit to pick up a boundary in the 18th over. Then Ritu Moni added the finishing touch, scoring the winning runs in the 19th over.
Opting to bat first, India put on 102 for nine.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with a 41-ball 40, while Jemimah Rodrigues finished with a 26-ball 28.
Bangladesh leg-spinner Rabeya Khan was the standout bowler for the hosts, picking up three wickets, while off-spinner Sultana Khatun scalped two.
For India, Minnu Mani and Devika claimed two wickets apiece.
