Bangladesh left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam showed his utmost ecstasy after he finished with his career best bowling figure against Afghanistan in the third and final one-day international at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old left-arm pacer, who snared his early career best with 4-34 against the host West Indies last year, bagged 4-21 over the visiting Afghans.
Aside from him, Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam claimed two each, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan took the rest of the two wickets to all-out Afghanistan for a sorry 126 in 45.2 overs that they chased down by losing three wickets in 23.3 overs.
With the victory, the home side, who lost the three-match one-day international series by 2-0, eventually avoided a clean sweep against the visitors.
‘I am feeling great. It always gives a better feeling to all if anyone can do something for his side,’ said Shoriful after the game in Chattogram.
The southpaw further acknowledged that all he could do was thanks to the never-ending support from his teammates and management.
‘I could perform well as the entire team supported me. Especially Mushfiq Bhai [Mushfiqur Rahim], he told me repeatedly that you have to do well.’
The 22-year-old also vowed to beat their Afghan counterparts when they take on them in the forthcoming Asia Cup and World Cup.
‘Everyone wants to beat. We would also feature that sort of mindset. Let's see what happened afterwards.’
‘We would be keen to win in the Asia Cup and World Cup at any cost. We will be bearing that kind of craving.’
Bangladesh will kick off its World Cup campaign against Afghanistan in Dharamshala, India, on October 7.
