The Bangladesh Cricket Board is expected to consider their former ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as the mentor for the Bangladesh national cricket team for the approaching ICC World Cup if the latter notifies them officially to play the role.
BCB cricket operation chairman Mohammad Jalal Yunus told the media on Tuesday in Chattogram that they are all set to hold a meeting as well regarding the affair if Mashrafe shows his willingness on the issue.
‘Now it’s a board’s decision. Of course [board will discuss], Mashrafe is a member of parliament. Former captain. He was supposed to come,’ said Jalal on Tuesday in Chattogram.
‘Let him come officially to us. He is a good captain and leader as well. If he comes, we will discuss.’
Following the recent incident of the retirement-to-unretirement of Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, a murmur is taking place in the country’s cricket fraternity that the BCB might rope in the former Bangladesh captain as their mentor for the upliftment of the team’s result during the upcoming marquee competition.
