Despite making a brilliant start by the bowlers Bangladesh women's team suffered a frustrating eight-run defeat against India in the second of three Twenty20 internationals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
With the defeat the home side saw a 2-0 series loss with one game to go.
India could amass only 95-8 in the stipulated overs thanks to Sultana Khatun’s 3-21 and Fahima Khatun’s 2 and Marufa Aketr, Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khatun’s one wicket apiece.
And India bowled out the former Asian champions for 87.
With Bangladesh needing a humble 96, saw a top-order collapse 30-4 inside 7.5 overs.
However, the hosts fought back after their captain Joty formed a 34-run stand with Shorna Akter.
Joty was the lone holding the innings together for the Tigresses but as soon as her 55-ball 38 came to an end -- when she was stumped off a Deepti Sharma delivery in the penultimate over -- the hosts lost their way.
With four wickets in hand and 10 needed from the final over, the Tigresses hit the panic button as they lost four wickets in the final over.
