Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam claimed his third four-wicket haul in the ODIs that guided Bangladesh to bundle out Afghanistan for a paltry 126 in third and final one-day international at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Tuesday.
With Shoriful picking up 4-21 and Taskin Ahmed along with Taijul Islam taking 2 apiece while Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scalping one wicket each, the visitors were finished with their lowest total in the ODIs against Bangladesh in 45.2 overss.
Azmatullah Omarzai was the highest scorer with 56 off 71 balls, his maiden ODI fifty, while their next top, 22 came from the skipper Hasmatullah Shahidi’s bat.
Sent to bowl, Bangladesh bowlers made a flying start as they removed top four Afghan batsmen for 21.
Shoriful had Ibrahim Zadran for 1 followed by Rahmat Shah and Mohammad Nabi for a duck and 1 run respectively to lessen the tourists to 14-3 in 5.5 overs in his initial five overs spell.
Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed then struck to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 6 who made a cracking 145 off 125 ball balls the early tie.
Later, Shakib and Taijul joined the party to dismiss Najibullah Zadran and Hashmatullah for 10 and 22 respectively while Shoriful cut Abdul Rahman for 4 to complete his third four-wicket haul in 50 over game.
Afterwards Taijul rattled the stumps of Zia-ur-Rahman for 5.
In the ninth wicket stand Omarzai and Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman shared a crucial 36-run to exceed the hundred run mark for the visitors before the latter was excluded by Mehidy for 11.
Taskin drew the finishing line as he had Omarzai to depose the Afghans.
