Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan believes that the past good memories against South Africa would boost their morale when they will take on the side in their second Super 12 game of the ICC T20 World Cup in Sydney on Thursday.
The match will start at 9 a.m. Bangladesh Standard Time and BTV, GTV and T-Sports will televise the game live.
Bangladesh, who visited the Proteas earlier this year, secured a 2-1 win in the ODIs. Earlier, they also ended on a superlative note during their face-off in the ICC 2019 World Cup in the Oval, London.
The Tiger skipper acknowledged that although the format was different, however, the previous victories would pave the way to induce one more victory during their battle in the ongoing global event.
‘We have some good memories against them that would possibly help us. We want to be in an open mind and like to enjoy the game,’ said Shakib on Wednesday in Sydney in the pre-match press conference.
The ace all-rounder also admitted that when they would be keen to bag another win, recalling their memories to mark a place in the semi-final, the Proteas would also go hard to keep their last four hopes alive after their first tie was robbed due to rain that handed them just one point against their Zimbabwe counterpart.
‘Of course, it’s an important game for us and also very significant for South Africa as well, as they were expecting one more point in the first game but they couldn't, therefore it is going to be a do or die for them.’
The Tiger skipper also accepted that if they could win the game, it would pave their way to going close to achieving their rare success in the showpiece competition for the first time.
Of course, it’s important to win the tie to play in the semi-final. Such a game, if we could win, would lead us to prove our worth. Therefore, it is going to be an important match for us.
