Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahin Zadran each smacked a hundred that powered Afghanistan to 331-9 in the second of the three one-day internationals against their Bangladesh counterparts at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Saturday.
Gurbaz blazed a whirlwind 145 off 125 balls hitting 13 fours and eight maximums, his fourth ODI ton and Ibrahim finished with a 119-ball 100, his fourth ODI century as well, pummeling nine boundaries and one maximum to propel the visitors t0 their third highest total in 50-over game.
Shakib Al Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rhaman scalped two each while Ebadot Hossain who retired hurt took one wicket.
Sent to bat, Afghanistan openers Gurbaz and Ibrahim made a flying start as they formed the highest- 256 run partnership in this stand for the side and dragged the visitor’s innings up to 37 overs.
However, Shakib was the man who brought the initial breakthrough for the hosts as he trapped Gurbaz leg before.
Ebadot and Miraz then struck in the successive two overs to reduce the Afghans to 266-3.
Afterwards Shakib, Miraz, Mustafiz, and Hasan Maumud picked up wickets at the regular interval to restrict the visitors below the three hundred and fifty run mark.
Afghanistan are 1-0 up in the series as they registered a 17 run win in DL in the series opener.
