The Bangladesh Cricket Board named their wicket-keeper batsman as the vice- captain for the ongoing series against their Afghanistan counterparts that started at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Wednesday.
According to the national team chief selector Monhajul Abedin, the BCB has assigned him as a vice of their regular captain, Tamim Iqbal for this series only.
‘Yes, he is our vice-captain for this series only,’ said Minhajul.
Liton was named as the vice-captain amid fitness concerns to regular captain Tamim.
And this is the first time in Bangladesh's cricket history that BCB has taken such a decision in the middle of a series.
Earlier Liton, who is also the vice-captain in Test, led the Tigers against the same side in the recently concluded one-off Test held last month in Mirpur.
