The Bangladesh national team reached Sydney on Tuesday with the fragrance of victory ahead of their second Super 12 clash of the ICC T20 World Cup against South Africa which starts in the city on Thursday.

The match will start at 9 am Bangladesh Standard Time and BTV, GTV T-Sports will televise the game live.

Bangladesh started their main episode of the global event with a relieved 9-run win against their Netherlands counterpart at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as they had been undergoing a ceaseless fiasco in the shortest version since their last edition of T20 World Cup in 2021.

Prior to the victory against the Dutch side, Bangladesh had featured in 27 games, bagging only six wins, where the bulk of them came over the weaker counterparts.

With the victory, the Tigers have also overcome their much awaited woes in the main episode of any T20 World Cup, as until the game they couldn’t secure a single win in the main event of the showpiece tournament since the 2007 edition of the T20 World Cup held in South Africa.

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed played the pivotal role, scalping his career best 4-25 that paved the way for the Tigers to depose Netherlands for 135 while chasing down a humble 145.

Following the game, the Tiger pacer claimed before the media that he reaped the benefits of bowling his basics and was contended to contribute to his team’s win in the flagship competition.

Although the Tigers could bag the long-drawn-out win, however, it couldn’t win the hearts of the fans on the back of their abysmal batting approach.

Not a single batsman could display their positive intent that they ought to while batting in a global clash with their opening pair, Soumya Srakar and Najmul Hossain Shanto going out for 14 and 25 respectively, which affected others in the following orders.

Liton Das, the country's current best batsman, was dismissed for a sluggish 11 of 9, while Shakib, who hit consecutive two fifties [70, 68] in the recently concluded tri-nation in Christchurch, was also removed for a 7-ball 9.

Even Afif Hossain’s 38 off 27 balls resembled inadequate against an associate nation.
