Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz promised to continue their red-ball dominance when they take on thier Afghanistan conterparts in the white-ball games as well stats at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, on July 5.
The home side secured a massive 546-run win over the tourists in the recently concluded one-off Test with five sessions to spare—the third biggest victory in the history of Test cricket in terms of runs.
Following their longest format campaign, they are now all set to commence their white ball games with three one-day internationals in Chattogram, followed by two Twenty20 internationals in Sylhet.
‘Yes, of course. You see, we have been playing in a dominating manner for a long time. The way we won the Test match would be to try to win in the ODIs with the same approach,’ said Mehidy on Wednesday in Mirpur.
‘Let’s not keep our ruling over the Afghans within the Tests; let’s carry it on in the ODIs as well,’ he added.
Given Bangladesh’s position in the ICC World Cup Super League points table, [third] Mehidy believed that even if they lose the approaching series against the visitors in the ODIs, that wouldn’t necessarily imply their downfall in the format.
‘You see one thing: win or lose in a game always comes later. However, we are playing better cricket relentlessly. Even if we lose the series, and play below par cricket, that certainly might happen, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we have turned into a bad side.
He further asserted that losing the series against the Afghans wouldn’t appear to be an upset for them.
‘You may lose one after playing 5 to 10 series in a row. That may definitely happen. But we are not focusing on that. We are keen to play better cricket.’
