Taskin, Afif, Naim return against Afghanistan ODIs

Taskin Ahmed, Afif Hossain, and Mohammad Naim have made their return to the 15-man squad that the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Saturday for the forthcoming three one-day internationals against Afghanistan starting in Chattogram on July 5.

The host board has dropped Rony Talukdar, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury from the last series against their Ireland counterparts held in Chelmsford, England, last month.

Mohammad Naim, who played his last ODI against Sri Lanka in 2021 in Mirpur, was rewarded thanks to his brilliant performance in the last edition of the Dhaka Premiere League, being the most run getter with 932 from 16 matches.

Afif was omitted in the Ireland series both at home and in England due to his dismal run in the past series at home; however, his 550 runs from 15 games in the DPL also paved the way for the southpaw.

Speed star Taskin also failed to manage a call in the last ODI series against the Irish on the back of his side strain injury that he suffered just a day before the Dhaka Test against the Irish in Mirpur in April.

The ODIs are scheduled for July 5, 8, and 11 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
