Najmul’s fourth Test fifty powers Bangladesh to 116-1 at lunch

Najmul Hossain Shanto hit his fourth Test fifty that powered Bangladesh to 116-1 at lunch of the opening day of the one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.

With Najmul and his partner Mahmudul Hasan Joy going untroubled until the day’s initial session and remaining unbeaten on 64 and 34 respectively the home side managed the formidable total from 24 overs at a run-rate of 4.83 .

Pacer Nijat Masood claimed his debutant wicket removing Zakir Hasan for 1 on his very first delivery of the longest format of cricket.

Bangladesh lost their opener earlier on the day as Nijat had Zakir for 1.

Then Najmul and Mahmudul shared a 110 run stand in the second wicket that guided the hosts to rebound in the game strongly.
