National women's team players to enjoy payment bump

Bangladesh Cricket Board has increased the monthly salary of the national women’s cricket team players by 20 percent and also bumped up the players’ match fee, informed the board’s president Nazmul Hasan.

The BCB decided on the pay hike for the former Asia Cup champions in its 8th executive meeting held on Monday.

‘The match fees and monthly payments that our national women’s team members were handed earlier have been raised for our 25 centrally contracted players. Aside from that, we also increased the monthly payment for the first-class cricketers as well,’ he said.

‘Aside from that, we have raised the salary for the four-day games of our A team, he added.

It was learned that national women’s team members who earlier received Tk 50000 for One-Day Internationals, now be handed one lakh, while in the T20Is their payment has been bumped up to Tk 50,000 from Tk 25,000.

Simultaneously, the monthly payment for the top graded member has been increased to Tk 10000 from Tk 80,000.

The BCB boss also asserted that they are set to purchase four turfs to upgrade indoor facilities in different venues, adding that they would also revamp the Fatullah Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.

‘The turfs we are currently using in the indoor are pretty old, as per the New Zealand inspection team who visited us earlier this month. We have already settled on purchasing four turfs for now, which are world class and would be helpful for us.’

‘Fatullah Stadium that we have would be renovated by us, We are aiming to revamp both the main venue along with the outer so that we can use it from the next season onwards.’

Nazmul further promised to install a TV channel owned by the BCB to avoid a further blackout during an international series.

‘We are facing broadcast issues. We have seen that no one showed their willingness to televise the BPL, which is a matter of great regret. Not only that, none of our local TV channels were reluctant to televise the recently concluded Ireland series.

‘Therefore, we have decided to apply for BCB TV, which would solve our existing problems. Alongside the international matches, we would also be able to televise our domestic games once we have a TV channel ’

He also said that the board has approved the five ad hoc committees for the Regional Cricket Association.

‘We have received and approved five ad-hoc committees of our five regional cricket associations, that include Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Rangpur.
