Bangladesh batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto was nominated for the ICC's Player of the Month for May alongside Pakistan's Babar Azam and Ireland's Harry Tector, the ICC revealed Tuesday.
The rise of the top order batsman continued in the last month during the one-day international series against Ireland.
Najmul hit 44 in a rain-washed series opener, in Chelmsford, England.
His heroics in the next tie led to a stunning victory. Chasing 320 in a 45-over affair, Najmul thundered to a maiden century in the format in just 83 balls, finishing with 117 from 93 deliveries with 12 fours and three sixes followed by 35 and taking 1/10 with his off-spin in a five-run victory in the series finale.
Alongside Najmul, Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam and Ireland batsman Harry Tector were also nominated as the men’s players of the month for May thanks to their gleaming shows while Chamari Athapaththu, Harshitha Madavi (both SL) and Thipoatcha Putthawong (Thai) were selected as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month.
