Bangladesh batsman Liton Das said that he is not losing sleep regarding his recent bad patch with the bat as he is keen to overcome it shortly.
The 28-year old had a dismal outing in the recently concluded three one-day internationals against their Ireland counterpart in Chelmsford, England, as he could manage 0, 21, and 35 at their den.
Earlier, he also failed to prove his worth with the bat in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, as he finished with only four runs against the Delhi Capitals in the outfit of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The wicketkeeper-batsman wasn’t even close to his best with gloves during the match as he missed two crucial stumpings and his side had to finish on the losing side, that sidelined him in the next games for the franchise until his final moments at KKR dugout.
However, he eventually had to return home from his short maiden season at the meet.
‘See, you couldn’t play better cricket every day. Sometimes you would play well, and sometimes you wouldn't. In fact, I am not worried that way, said Liton in the city’s hotel after he secured the Cricketer of the Year 2022 award by the Bangladesh Sports Press Association.
‘However, I would keep training, let’s see what happens, ‘he added.
He further vowed to turn the tables against Afghanistan when they take on the touring side in the one-off Test that is scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from June 14 to 18.
Bangladesh, who played just a single Test against the Afghans until today, suffered a crushing 224-run defeat in their past meet in Chattogram back in September 2019.
‘We usually play to win. And we would always aim to be triumphant.’
However, he denied making any comment when his attention was drawn to their preparation for the forthcoming ICC World Cup campaign in India this year, adding that they are expected to hold a training session from today onwards.
‘World Cup is long way to go; may be we are going to commence a camp today. Let’s see, let’s start it initially.
He further conveyed his ecstasy as he was awarded the Best Cricketer of 2022 and the Best Sports Person of the Year by the BSPA.
Feeling really great, if we are handed this sort of award on a regular basis thanks to our performance, it would inspire us in the future.
