Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam finds his inclusion challenging in the squad against host Ireland in the ongoing three one-day internationals in England.
Shoriful, who managed a spot in the series opener on Tuesday in Chelmsford in place of Indian Premier League returnee Mustafizur Rahman, dismissed the Irish veteran Paul Sterling for 15, although the tie was a washout.
Earlier in the series, the southpaw made his appearance in the two ODIs against the host Zimbabwe, where he finished with just one wicket, that gave the selection panel room to think about his replacement in the next series.
The second game of the series will be played at the same venue today at 3:45 p.m., and ICC TV will televise the tie live.
‘In fact, I made my comeback after a long time, which is very challenging for me. Mustafiz bhai [Mustafiz] has been rested while other fast bowlers are being played by rotation,’ said Shoriful on Thursday in England ahead of their second encounter.
‘From that point of view, it’s a better opportunity for me. If I can do well here, it would be better for me.’
The 21-year-old further vowed to win the tie, adding that the team management has directed them to play with an open mind.
‘Of course we will be playing to win. Apart from that, we don’t have any other plans.’
‘They [coaches] directed us to play with an open mindset. ‘What have you done in the training sessions to repeat the same in the game.’ We are hoping for something good.'
He further termed the conditions in Chelmsford "pace bowling friendly," which they are relishing wholeheartedly.
‘Practically, all fast bowlers want to play and bowl in such conditions. We are feeling good to bowl here.’
