Bangladesh women’s team suffered a thrashing seven wicket defeat against their Sri Lanka counterpart in a low scoring second of three Twenty20 international in Colombo on Thursday.
With Chamari Athapaththu making a 27-ball 33 and Harshitha Samarawickrama making an unbeaten 29 off 42 balls, Sri Lanka cruised to the target 101-3, in 18.3 overs, in reply to 100 all-out by the visitors.
With the win the home side leveled the series 1-1 as Bangladesh earned a six-wicket victory in the opening fixture.
Sharmin Sultana and Sobhana Mostary scored the highest 18 each for the former Asian champions.
Bangladesh women’s saw their two highest stands 28 and 25 from their opening and second wicket stand respectively, however, afterwards they even failed to form a 20-run stand in the next orders that allowed them to score a poor total.
Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari, Inoka Ranaweera and Kavisha Dilhari took two wickets apiece.
Pursuing a slim total although the home side lost their three batters for 68, however, they successfully reached the victory thanks to Chamari and Harshitha’s efforts alongside an unbeaten 1-ball 20 from Kavisha Dilhari.
Fahima Khatun was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh taking 2-6 and Rabeya Khan claimed one wicket.
