Bangladesh Under-19 team suffered successive two defeats as their Pakistan counterpart secured a 78-run victory over them in the second of the five youth one-day internationals thanks to Azan Awais’s ton in Chattogram on Monday.
With Azad making 105 off 125 balls and 51 coming from Saad Baig’s bat the tourists managed a challenging 271 all-out that they successfully defended by bowling out the junior Tigers by 193 runs in 47 overs.
Iqbal Hossain Emmon was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, picking up 4-72, and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby took three wickets, while Mohammad Shihab James scored the highest for the side with 42.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Ismail was the peak among the bowlers, taking 3-50, and Aimal Khan, Ali Asfan, and Arafat Minhas each finished with two wickets.
Although the visitors made a shaky start, losing Shahzib Khan for six, that shortened them to 10-1 in 3.6 overs, they overcame the early damage with the hundred and fifty from Azad and Saad, respectively.
In reply, the home side failed to hold their nerve, which made them suffer two straight defeats after they were thrashed by nine wickets in the first game.
The win helped the visitors lead the series 2-0.
The third match will be held in Rajshahi on Thursday.
