Host Bangladesh will feature in only one Test against the touring Afghanistan instead of two in the forthcoming series in June, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations chairman, Mohammed Jalal Yunus.
As per o the original itinerary, Bangladesh were scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs and the similar number of T20Is but have opted to scrap one Test on the back of their hectic schedule.
‘We have discarded a Test match out of two during the series against the touring Afghanistan as we are set to play in the World Cup this year. Simultaneously, we also had to consider our DPL. So it would be really tough to play two Tests, said Jalal Yunus while talking to sportsmail24 on Tuesday.
'Two Tests alongside three ODIs and T20Is would prolong the series,' he added.
The BCB is also planning to organise a 10-day camp in Bangalore before the upcoming ODI World Cup but nothing has been finalised yet. If that doesn’t happen, Bangladesh will prepare for the showpiece event at home.
Before going into the series against Afghanistan, Bangladesh are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against Ireland on May 9, 12 and 14 in Chelmsford which are part of the ICC World Cup Super League.
