Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed has been advised to start his rehabilitation following Eid vacation while wicketkeeper batsman Zakir Hasan would be able to start full-fledged batting during the time, asserted Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physician Debashis Chowdhury.
Taskin, who suffered the side strain injury during the T20Is against the touring Ireland, was sidelined ahead of the one-off Test against the visitors, that also ruled him out of the approaching three ODIs against the same side in Chelmsford, scheduled to kick off on May 9.
The speed star is currently undergoing a full rest and is expected to resume bowling after at least two weeks of the Eid stopover.
‘It has been two weeks since Taskin sustained the strain. He is undergoing a three-week long rest, as per the directives of our medical unit,’ said Debashis on Tuesday.
‘Afterwards, we will start his rehabilitation programme, suggesting that we would review his injury status following the Eid vacation.
‘The strain that Taskin is suffering usually takes three to four weeks to start bowling. Although he is suffering a grade one side strain, it would take at least four weeks to get back to full fitness, added BCB’s chief physician,
On the contrary, Zakir, star who suffered a thumb injury ahead of the series against the Irish and also dropped out of the approaching series against them to be held in England, is improving impressively, revealed Chowdhury.
‘However, Zakir is undergoing the rehabilitation programme under the supervision of our physiotherapist. His improvement is highly impressive, and he will regain his fitness fully after Eid and bat fully fledged.
