The Super League phase of this edition of the Dhaka Premier League is set to kick off on May 1 and continue up to May 14, said the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis’s chairman, Md. Salahdiuddin Chowdhury.
Although the CCDM, the DPL regulatory body under the Bangladesh Cricket Board, was earlier expected to hold the last six vying of the country’s domestic one-day competition soon after the Eid vacation,
However, taking the country’s ongoing heat wave on a serious note, they have settled on running it from the early part of May.
‘We [CCDM], alongside the club officials, decided to start on May 1. Considering the existing heat wave over the nation, we have settled on this,’ said Salahuddin.
‘The curtain for the league would be off on May 14, including the reserve days.’
He further added that the relegation matches would be concluded on May 9.
Clubs that have secured their spots for the league phase are Abahani Limited, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Legends of Rupganj, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club, and Gazi Group Cricketers.
Conversely, Agrani Bank Cricket Club, Shinepukur Cricket Club, and Dhaka Leopards will be playing in the Relegation League.
On the opening day of the Super League episode, Sk. Jamal will take on the Gazi Group Cricketers at the Fatullah Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, while Abahani will encounter their archrivals, the Mohammedan Sporting Club, at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, and the Legends of Rupganj will be playing against the Prime Bank at BKSP-3.
