The Bangladesh Premier League [BPL] governing council chairman set to step down from the role to pass the position to others as he has held the status for a longer period of time.
Following the passing away of the former BPL chairman Afzalur Rahman Sinha in August 2018, Sohel was initially handed the role of acting chairman.
Afterwards, the veteran organiser had been give the role of head of the country’s lone T20 franchise based tournament’s body.
‘See, I have been performing the role for a longer period of time; I mean, since the demise of Sinha Bhai [Afzalur Rahman]. I think it’s the best time to hand over the role to other directors, said Sohel while talking to this reporter on Tuesday.
‘I no longer want to continue the role. I just want to quit as I have family engagements where I need to allocate more times.
However, he is not yet sure whether Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan will accept his resignation.
‘Listen, I have just decided, but I don’t know whether Papon Bhai [BCB chief] would hail my decision.’
