Mohammedan’s England recruit Jake Lintott finished with his career best bowling in List A cricket that helped the side continue their winning streak as they registered a 10-run win over Brothers Union in a low scoring match in the Dhaka Premier League at, Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah, on Tuesday.
With Lintott claiming 5-37 and Shakib Al Hasan taking two wickets, Mohammedan bowled out Brothers Union for 180 in 47.1 overs, in reply to their 190 all-out in 45.4 overs.
The straight fourth victory after suffering the similar number of losses provided them eight points to keep their Super League hopes alive after their star performers, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Rony Talukdar, made them available for the country’s traditional club.
In the day’s other two games, Gazi Group Cricketers beat City Club by five wickets, and Shinepukur Cricket Club suffered a 76 run loss against their Dhaka Leopards counterparts at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and BKSP-4, respectively.
The Black and White suffered a terrible batting collapse being sent to bat as they lost their top four batsmen Imrul Kayes, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were dismissed for 7, 14, 9 and 7 runs, respectively, that limited them to 59-4 in 12.3 overs.
In the fifth wicket stand, veteran national campaigners Shakib and Mahmudullah added a focal 63-run stand to stitch the innings before the former fell for 37 to Anisul Islam Emon.
However, Mahmudullah continued to bag his third fifty of the meet before Rahatul Ferdous had him for 58.
Then a late 28 from Litott helped Mohammedan pull them close to the 200-run mark.
Mohor Sheikh and Anisul Islam took three wickets each for Brothers Unoin.
In reply, Brothers Union lost their two top order batsmen for 34 runs as Shakib dismissed opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Sabbir Hossain for 10 and 12 runs, respectively.
Although Anisul Islam, Emon, and Zahiduzzaman shared a 61-run stand in the third wicket, it wasn’t instrumental for the side as they lost wicket at the regular intervals before that bundled them out for 180 runs.
Zahiduzzaman and Emon made the most with 41 runs, while the next best 40 runs came from Emon’s bat.
In the day’s other tie at BKSP4, Dhaka Leopards managed a humble 222 all-out thanks to Pinak Ghosh’s 66 and an unbeaten 56 from Sabbir Hossain.
Farhad Reza was the most successful bowler, Shinepukur taking 3-47.
In reply, Shinepukur were bowled out for 146 runs in 38.2 overs, with Raihunuddin claiming his career best in List A cricket with 6-30.
Tahjibul Islam scored the top score of 49, while other batsmen failed to reach the threshold of 40.
At the SBNCS, with Asif Ahmed hitting a 97-ball 60 and 47 coming from Abdullah Al Mamun, the City Club amassed a moderate 214 run before they were bundled out in the stipulated overs.
Sumon Khan was the standout bowler for Gazi Group, scalping 4-50.
Pursuing a humble total, Gazi Group reached the target 215-5 courtesy of Mehedi Maruf 66 and Akbar Ali’s 50, along with a 65-ball 48 from Farhad Hossain.
Ifran Hossain was the most successful bowler for City Club, taking 2-28.
