The Bangladesh national cricket team is likely to attend a brief training camp in Sylhet before they tour the United Kingdom to play in a three-match one-day international series against their Ireland counterparts, starting on April 9 in Chelmsford.
BCB’s cricket operations head Mohammad Jalal Yunus told media on Monday that the touring side is expected to commence their buildup in the later part of April and that it would continue until the end of this month before their departure on May 1.
‘We are set to hold a very short camp in Sylet following the Eid. It might be a two- or three-day camp before they leave for the UK. Most probably, it would start on Mrach 26 or 27, said Yunus.
He also asserted that they decided to run the training camp as the Tigers' head coach, Chandika Haturuasignha, opted for a remote place to be finished with a fine buildup ahead of the series.
‘It was our head coach’s choice, as they preferred an aloof location for the training camp.’
BCB’s cricket operations chief also confirmed that Bangladesh’s campaigners, Mustafizur Rahman and Liton Das, who have been included in the 15-man squad for the series but are currently staying in India, would join the side before the series takes place.
‘Our team will reach England on April 2; however, Liton will join on April 5, while Mustafizur would be available at the right time.’
The Tigers are also expected to play a warm-up tie before they go to the series.
However, BCB director Khaled Mahmud, who earlier acted as the team director but skipped the role in the last two series against England and Ireland at home, would also be absent in the approaching series.
The remaining two ODIs would be held on May 12 and 14.
