Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim hit a fifty each that guided Bangladesh to a dominating initial session over their Ireland counterpart on the second day of the one-off Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.
Shakib and Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on a run a ball 74 and 53 runs respectively to manage 170-3 that trailing them by 44 runs at lunch.
Bangladesh who were trailing by 180 runs following the day-1 stumps, resumed their inning with overnight batsman Mominul Haque and in coming Mushfiqur.
Muminul who stood on 12 could add 5 runs more before Mark Adair rattled his stumps in the day’s third over leaving the side at 40-3.
Then Shakib and Mushfiqur in the fourth wicket stand went untroubled until the day’s preliminary session adding 130 runs with the former hitting his 51st Test fifty from 45 balls hitting six fours and one maximum.
It was Mushfiqur’s 26th Test fifty.
