Bangladesh bowlers kept on striking at regular intervals that provided them an aroma of all out their Ireland counterparts on the opening day of the one-off Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
Taijul Islam, who claimed one wicket in the early session of the day, picked up another two wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one that reduced the Irish to 145-6 at tea, who were 48-3 at lunch.
Following the departure of the top three batsmen inside a meager total, Curtis Campher and Harry Tector shared a crucial 74-run stand in the fourth wicket to stitch the inning and also bolster the total.
Although the pair failed to extend their innings further after Miraz clattered Tector’s stumps for 50 to shorten them to 122-4 in 41.4 overs.
In coming Peter Moor followed Tector’s steps as he gave a catch to Tamim Iqbal for a single at short cover by Taijul.
Taijul then struck for the second time to remove Campher for 34.
Earlier in the day’s initial session, Shoriful Islam and Ebadot Hossain brought the early breakthrough before Taijul picked up his first wicket after being sent to bowl.
