Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque and Mahmudul Hasan Joy failed to appear with the steady bat as the star-studded Chattogram division was bowled out for a stuttering 126 against Rangpur division in the opening day of the second round of the National Cricket League on Sunday.
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Tamim was removed for 19 by Mushfik Hasan while his national team colleagues in the Tests, Mominul and Mahumdul were finished with 13, 11 respectively.
However, Hasan Murad, the pace bowler, could make 23 in the late order as the highest score for the side, which trailed Rangpur by 30 runs at stumps on day one.
Mukidul Islam was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 4, and Mushfik Hasan, Alauddin Babu, and Soharwardi Shuvo claimed 3, 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
In reply, with Tanbir Hader and Naeem Islam remaining unbeaten on 29 and 19, respectively, propelled Rangpur to 96-2 after their opener, Addullah Al Mamun, was dismissed for 31.
Mehidi Hasan and Yeasin Arafat Meshu took one wicket each.
At BKSP ground-3 , Syhet division is trailing by 69 runs by Dhaka division as the latter were bundled out for 128 while the former made 59-2 at stumps of day one.
Rony Talukdar scored a top 37 for Dhaka, while other batsmen failed to go beyond 19.
Nabil Samad was the pick among bowlers, picking up 5-36.
Amite Hasan and Zakir Hasan stood on 24 and 23 respectively after Nazmul Islam Apu and Sumon Khan claimed Imtiaz Hossan and Taufiq Khan Tusher.
In Chattogram at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Rajshahi division is trailing by 62 runs by Dhaka Metro as the former catapulted 72-2 at stumps on day-1 after they deposed the latter for 134.
