Bangladesh clean swept the world champion England for the first time in any format of cricket after they earned a 16 run win against the visitors in the third and final Twenty20 international at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
This was also their first 3-0 series win in T20Is over the mighty side, thanks to Liton Das' 73 off 57 balls, which helped them post an exciting 158-2 and chase down the tourists, who were limited to 142-6.
Bangladesh’s next highest 40 off 31 balls came from Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Taskin Ahmed was the peak of the hosts' bowler claiming 2-26 while Shakib Al Hasan, Tanvir Islam and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each.
David Malan scored the top with a 47-ball 52 and Jos Buttler finished with 40 off 31 balls.
Pursuing a challenging 159 England went back foot at the very first set losing their opener Phill Salt for a golden duck by the debutant Tanvir Islam.
The world champions rebound following a mammoth 76-ball 95 run stand between David Malan and Jos Buttler in the second wicket that guided them to reach the hundred run mark inside the thirteenth over.
However, the visitors lost their ways just after the over as Mustafizur Rahman dismissed the former for 53 to land on his hundred T20I wicket followed by the run-out of Buttler in the next delivery that limited them to 100-3.
With the conclusion of the captain England were knocked out of the battle wholly as they lost wickets at a regular interval in the death overs with Taskin Ahmed removing two important batsmen Duckett and Moeen Ali.
Then Shakib struck at the very first ball of nineteenth over to clear their last recognized batsman Sam Curran to turn the tide for the hosts.
Although Chris Woakes and Chris Jordan remained unbeaten on 13 off 10 and 2 off 4 however it just reduced the run difference before they clean swept.
Sent in to bat first, Liton gave Bangladesh a positive start putting on 55 runs with Rony Talukdar in the opening stand.
England's first breakthrough came when Adil Rashid dismissed Rony for 24 but Shanto and Liton added 84 runs for the second wicket to keep up momentum.
England missed a chance to dismiss Liton soon after the right-hander completed his ninth T20I half-century when Ben Duckett dropped him on 51 at deep mid-wicket off Jofra Archer.
Archer was also unlucky not to get Rony's wicket earlier as Rehan Ahmed dropped a sitter at third man with the batsman on 17.
Chris Jordan brought an end to Liton's 57-ball innings forcing him to give a catch to Phil Salt at deep midwicket.
England did well to contain the Bangladeshi batsman after Liton's dismissal with only one boundary struck in the death overs.
Shanto, who survived on 40 after being given lbw off Jordan, ensured Bangladesh still had a decent score with his third 40-plus innings in the series.
Jordan and Rashid finished with 1-21 and 1-23 for England respectively.
England won the preceding three-match one-day international series 2-1.
