Champion cricketer Shakib Al Hasan vowed to earn exceptional success for his team Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 2023-24 season of the Dhaka Premier League starting on March 15.
Mohammedan clinched their last DPL title in 2009-10 season of the competition.
During the last edition of the DPL they signed Shakib al Hasan alongside other national stars like Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Taskin Ahmed, and Mehedy Hasan in their squad as they were eyeing to clinch the title last year.
However, they failed to reach the Super League, let alone make an attempt for the championship, that forced their national cricketers to join different clubs after returning to the DPL following their national commitment.
'For the nation’s wellbeing, Mohammedan couldn’t qualify in Super League as many of us belong to the national side couldn’t feature. I hope that this time we would play as a team and would secure a result that they have been expecting for many days, said Shakib on Saturday in the players introduction ceremony in a city’s hotel.
Shakib, who couldn’t play a single match in the last edition on the back of his national commitment in the outfits of Mohammedan, desired to be available in all ties in this season.
‘I hope to play all the games,’ he added.
However, whether he would be available in all games for MSC in the DPL remains a big question considering his other assignments like playing for national team along with featuring in the IPL.
