Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud promised to take five hundred wickets across formats admitting that he doesn’t have a role model in bowling but watches many other cricketers bowl.
Hasan, who made his international debut on March 11, 2020, against the touring Zimbabwe in the second of the two-match T20I series, claimed 15 wickets from 11 games, and his best 3-47 came against India in the last edition’s ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Conversely, featuring in six ODIs where he had been capped against their West Indies counterpart in Mirpur, scalped eight wickets, making his six appearances in this format of cricket, and his best 3-28 came against the Caribbean in his debut match.
However, apart from the passable performance against India in the global event, the 23-year-old also could prove his worth with his sublime bowling efforts in the freshly concluded first T20I against their England counterpart on March 9 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, where he finished with an impact bowling that paved the way for the hosts to beat the world champions for the first time.
Although the right hander conceded 21 runs in his initial two overs, he just leaked seven more runs in the penultimate overs that fueled them to restrict the visitors to a moderate 156-6.
‘I want to take 500 wickets across formats [at the end of my career], and though I don’t follow anyone, I like the bowling of lots of cricketers,’ said Mahmud on Saturday in Mirpur.
He further added that their pace bowling unit always aims to stop the flow of runs and also eyes for dot balls, revealing that he is enjoying his current roles provided by the team management.
‘In T20 the time is short, and batsman tries to hit from the start and so we try to stop the flow of runs from the beginning and all we try to do is bowling dot balls.’
‘I am feeling good because I am giving some moment to the team that is creating a situation for the team to win the game. It’s a big responsibility for me and I am enjoying it.’
