Following a dominating six-wicket victory over England Bangladesh will surely desire to seal a historic series win when they take on the visitors in the second of the three Twenty20 internationals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.
The hosts are 1-0 up in the series as they registered their first ever T20I win against the visitors in the first match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhry Stadium, Chattogram on Thursday.
The game will begin at 3 p.m. and T Sports, GTV will televise the tie live.
To achieve the extraordinary success Bangladesh young pacer Hasan Mahmud believes that they just need to capitalise their momentum that they gained following their successive two wins against the mighty England in the third and final ODI followed by the first T20I in the port city.
‘We have played good cricket until now and we beat them in Chattogram, and we will try to beat them here. The momentum is on our side, and we need to keep that,’ said Mahmud on Saturday in the pre-match press conference in Mirpur.
The 23-year-old also accepted that repeating the same performance at the SBNCS wouldn’t be a difficult task as the tie will be featured in a good surface.
‘I think as the game will be played in Mirpur it will be good wicket. We think we will win the series.’
With the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2023 and ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in mind, Bangladesh team management has included a few fresh faces in the national fold.
Ahead of the two marquee contentions the Tiger cricket administration returned Rony Talukdar following an eight year pause, alongside Shamim Hossain, after he made his appearance in the T20Is against Pakistan at home in the later part of November 2021.
They also incorporated Towhid Hridoy, Tanvir Islam, and Rejaur Rahman Raja in the Twenty20 squad thanks to their gleaming performances in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League.
Mahmud acknowledged that the fresh troop is quite capable of earning more exceptional achievements in the approaching days.
‘At the moment the team we have is one of the best bunch players in (T20I’s) they are all very energetic and gives a lot of effort. If we can stick with this batch then we can be ahead in any format.’
This is sure that when the home side is desperate to seal the series with one more win, the world campions will be craving to level the series registering a win at the Tigers home of cricket.
And to achieve it, they just need to play their brand of cricket that they failed to display in the first game.
