Given Bangladesh's incessant failure to field, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha promised to overcome it and be the best in Asia in the department, and it is expected that they will do so when they face England in three T20Is beginning on Thursday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowhury Stadium.
Apart from batting, Bangladesh perhaps suffer the most in fielding when they take on a side in any international tie, as alongside a tough catch, they also slip a dolly that have made them suffer vastly on several occasions.
‘I have very high expectations. We have to be the best fielding side in Asia. We can’t compare with others, but we know where we need to get to’ said Hathurusingha on Wednesday at the ZACS.
With an aim to form a fresh T20I side ahead of the approaching showpiece competition in 2024, Bangladesh have included some exciting freshers such as Rony Talukdar, Shamim Hossain, Rejaur Rahman Raja, and Tanvir Islam alongside Najmul Hossain Shanto, Afifi Hossain, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Hathurisingha accepted that their appearance would help them to conquer their adversity in the fielding department, adding that he is satisfied with the upgradation of his charges that they have already shown.
‘Young legs on the field definitely helps fielding. They are faster, energetic. Hridoy [Towhid Hridoy] is one of the really exciting fielders.’
