Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Hossain Shanto hit a fifty each to power Bangladesh to 246 against world champion England in the third and final one day international at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.
With Shakib hitting a breezy 75 off 71 balls and Mushfiqur, Shanto making a 93-ball 70 and 71-ball 53 propelled the hosts to a moderate total before they were bowled out in 48.5 overs.
That means Musfiqur saw his first fifty since last year’s July during their tour in Zimbabwe where he finished with an unbeaten 52 in the opener of the three match ODIs at Harare.
Jofra Archer was the standout bowler for the visitors nabbing 3-35 while Sam Curran, Adil Rashid took two each and Rehan Ahmed and Chris Woakes claimed one wicket each.
With Liton Das departing for his back-to-back duck and Tamim Iqbal falling on 11 by Curran Bangladesh made a stuttering start being sent to bat, that limited them to 17-2 inside the third over.
In the third wicket stand Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim shared a valuable 98-run to rebuild the innings and also bolster the total prior to the run-out of the former that halted the hosts momentum as the latter alongside Mahmudullah also followed his steps that shortened them to 163-5.
However, Shakib continued single-handedly and went big guns in the penultimate overs but had to stop with eight balls to spare of the innings.
