We are prepared enough: Shakib

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan believed that featuring in the recently concluded tri-nation series against the top two sides in Christchurch handed them adequate preparation for the approaching ICC T20 World Cup starts in Australia on Sunday.

Although Bangladesh suffered four straight four defeats against New Zealand and Pakistan that eventually knocked them out of the final of the competition, however, competing against them in similar conditions to Australia boosted thier morale for the global event.

‘We know what things we need to do to perform well here in Australia. I think we are prepared enough,’ he said in Brisbane on Saturday during the captain’s photo session.

‘But you know, I think we prepared very well. We were in Christchurch where we played four games against two very good sides,’ he added.

Bangladesh will play in the T20I in Australia for the first time since their inception in this format of cricket back in 2006, which will be a great experience for them, according to the Tigers captain.

‘Most of us are new. So, it will be a great experience for them. All of us are playing T20I for the first time in Australia, including me; that's new.’

Following the conclusion of the tri-nation series, Bangladesh's skipper left Christchurch for Melbourne on Friday, while his fellow teammates headed for Brisbane on Saturday to play two warm-up games against Afghanistan and South Africa on October 17 and 19, respectively, before they take part in the main event on October 24 in Hobart.
