The Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday that they are all set to secure a deal with the Decision Review System (DRS) provider until 2027.
According to The Daily Sun, the home series in England and Ireland are expected to be the final series in which BCB will take DRS from the production company, because after these series, BCB will take DRS directly from the service provider.
BCB underwent severe criticism for the unavailability of DRS in the group phase of the Bangladesh Premier League, the country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament, as many controversial decisions were made during the tournament for lack of technological support.
BCB failed to secure DRS services despite having the equipment available due to the unavailability of human resources; later, BCB were able to secure DRS during the playoff stage as the support staff needed to run DRS was available.
'Certainly there will be DRS (in the series against England). Another thing is that there are lot of talks regarding DRS. DRS is the component of our production which is helping us to make right decision. We used to play cricket when there was no DRS and even international tournament like World Cup was played without DRS. At one stage we were introduced with technology and we were using DRS and ICC made it compulsory in their tournament. We were trying to make sure that it is there in the domestic cricket,' BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters on at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.
'The responsibility of DRS was given to our production team but now we want to come out of it. We are going on a long term agreement with them who directly operates the DRS and that till 2027,'he said.
