Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan joined the national camp on Monday after spending a few days with his family in the US ahead of the one day internationals against England starting on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old, who went to see his family after playing in a one-off match in the Pakistan Super League for Peshawar Zalmi, returned to Dhaka on Monday morning.
With the forthcoming heavyweight England series in mind, the champion cricketer took part with his teammates soon-after his arrival in Dhaka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium to attend their scheduled training sessions.
Following his arrival, the southpaw was first seen conversing with their returning head coach, Chandika Haturusingha, with whom he spent some time.
Then he sweated it out for about 30 minutes with his teammates in fielding practice at the SBNCS under fielding coach Shane McDermot.
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal was also seen training around Shakib, but he appeared unwilling to have a courtesy chat with the latter, despite the duo becoming the talk of the town as a result of their feud.
However, Shakib did not take it seriously, but rather was mindful of his buildup after missing it for the previous four days.
Following the completion of fielding practice, the left-hander relocated to the indoor for batting practice.
Despite his difficulty in obtaining a net, all of the nets at the SBNCS indoor were occupied by his other teammates Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, and Najmul Hossain Shanto, who were also training there.
Shakib stood beside Shanto’s nets, and at one point Shanto offered Shakib to bat in his nets.
The ace all-rounder accepted the offer with a joyous spirit and batted against his pace bowling colleagues; Mustafizur Rahman, Taslin Ahmed, and Hasan Mahmood.
Subsequently, he was seen batting against the throwers in the same nets. However, he was batting so flawlessly that someone wouldn’t believe that he just landed after a long flight and also didn’t undergo any training for a couple of weeks.
