The Bangladesh Cricket Board is waiting for the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit’s [ACU] report regarding the match fixing approach by a Bangladesh women’s team member to her national team colleague to fix a match in the ongoing edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
It was learned that the player who offered the fixing proposal is named Shohely Akhter, and she is currently staying in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh women’s wing chairman Shafiul Alam Chowdhury told reporters on Wednesday that the campaigner who had been approached for fixing, informed the affair to the coach and manager.
Then they [team management] conveyed the issue to BCB, who immediately relayed it to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit to run an investigation.
'Following the offer, she informed our coach and manager. Afterwards, they conveyed the incident to the board, and then we informed the ICC. Now ICC is investigating the affair, therefore we have nothing to say about it until the conclusion of the investigation," said Shafiul.
