Comilla Victorians confirmed a spot in the title decider as they registered a four-wicket win over Sylhet Strikers in the first Qualifier of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The victory means that the defending champions will face the winner of the second Qualifier between Sylhet Strikers and Rangpur Riders in the final on February 16 at the same venue.
Sylhet were all-out for 125 in 16.4 overs, courtesy of Tanvir Islam, Andre Russell, and Mustafizur Rahman, who took two wickets each.
Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with a 29-ball 38 for the side, while skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza smashed a 17-ball 26 as a pinch-hitter, followed by 29 off 22 balls by Mushfiqur Rahim.
In reply, Comilla opener Sunil Narine set the tone, smashing four sixes and three fours scoring an 18-ball 31 before he was removed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Then a steady run-a-ball 27 from Mosaddek Hossain and 15 off 10 balls courtesy of Russell propelled Comilla to the BPL final.
Sylhet pacer Rubel Hossain scalped 3-33.
