Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan said that they want to learn from their mistakes in the last match when they take on Fortune Barishal in the eliminator of the ongoing episode of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
The do-or-die fixture will start at 1:30 p.m., followed by Qualifier 1 between the Sylhet Strikers and Comilla Victorians at 6:30 p.m.
Nagarik TV will televise the games live.
Rangpur had a dismal outing in their last encounter in the league phase against the defending champion Comilla, where they suffered a 70-run defeat on the back of their below par batting performances as they were all out for 107 in 17 overs, cruising to a challenging 177-5.
‘The last game was a good lesson for us. If we can take some good knowledge from there, we hope to do well in the match,’ said Nurul on Saturday in Mirpur.
He further acknowledged that as a team they are already well equipped, but the inclusion of a couple of overseas players would surely boost their strength during the tie.
According to the Rangpur media wing, the former titlists have freshly incorporated the Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman along with the Sri Lankan hard hitting all-rounder Dasun Sanaka ahead of their last four matches.
‘A couple of foreign players arrived, hoping that something good will come off.’
Shakib Al Hasan led Barishal also had a frustrating outing in their league phase finale against the Khulna Tigers, where the former suffered a six wicket defeat and fell to the bottom of the playoff points table.
And all of it happened due to the lackluster of their batsmen.
If they can overcome their dearth, it wouldn’t be a tough job for Barishal to confirm Qualifier 2 of the competition.
The day's evening game, however, is expected to be a "clash of the titans," with Mashrafe Bin Mortaza captaining the Sylhet Strikers and Mohammad Rizwan, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell-like superstars featuring for Comilla.
The winning side of the encounter will straight confirm a spot in the final while the losing team will face the winner of the eliminator on February 12 at the same venue.
