The Comilla Victorians extended their winning streak by defeating the Rangpur Riders by 70 runs in the final match of the league phase of the Bangladesh Premier League on Friday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Chasing Comilla's 177-5, Rangpur were bundled out for 107 with three overs to spare.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz led the Rangpur batsmen with a top score of 29 off 22 balls, while the other Rangpur batsmen failed to go beyond 20.
Mustafizur Rahman was the standout bowler for Comilla, scalping 3-18, while Tanvir Islam and Sunil Narine took two wickets each.
Sent to bat, Comilla opening pair went undefeated until 43 inside the power play before Mohammad Rizwan gave a catch behind the stumps to Liton Das for 24 off 21 balls by Azmatullah Umarzai.
In the second wicket stand, Liton Das and Narine shared a 20-run stand prior to the dismissal of the latter on 8 by Ripon Mondol.
Following Narine's dismissal, skipper Imrul Kayes and set partner Liton added 38 to the defending champions' total before being dismissed on 47 off 33 balls and a 20-ball 19 by Rakibul Hasan and Omarzai, respectively.
Then, riding on a stormy 39-ball 72 in the next stand between Khushdil Shah and Jaker Ali Comilla managed a challenging total.
In reply, Rangpur suffered a batting collapse, losing their top-order quartet for 31 runs in 5.2 overs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shamim Hossain formed the highest 18-ball 26-run partnership in the fifth wicket, guiding the side to 107 before being all out in 17 overs.
