Although England has always been termed as a mighty side thanks to their glorious history in cricket however Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed hinted at a close contest against them in the approaching series as they would be playing against the visitors on their home soil.
The high-profile series against the defending ODI and T20I champions is scheduled to commence on March 1, that includes three one day internationals and the similar number of T20Is at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram respectively.
However, Taskin accepted that playing against the top-ranked team wouldn’t be easy going.
‘Undeniably it wouldn’t be easy, as they are a big side in all formats. But we also have the belief that we are a strong side in our home. We will fight and also give our best,’ Taskin said on Wednesday.
He further vowed to scalp the top batsmen's wickets during the series.
‘I would be keen to take the wicket of their best batsmen. However, to achieve it, I have to follow a process at the end of the day. It would be my biggest achievement if I could contribute to my team’s win.’
The 27-year-old further suggested that whoever plays their best on a particular day would win.
‘He who will play good cricket on a certain day will win.’
'It wouldn’t be easy as they are the biggest team in all formats across the globe, but I also believe that we are one of the robust sides in our home. We will fight.’
As per the revised schedule, the tourists will arrive in Bangladesh on February 24.
The ODIs are scheduled on March 1, 3, 6 while the T20Is will be played on March 9, 12, 14.
