Mashrafe ruled out of group phase concluder

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, captain of Sylhet Strikers and former captain of the Bangladesh national team, has been ruled out of the last group phase match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League season due to a groin injury.

Sylhet media wing confirmed to this reporter on Sunday that the 39-year-old, who was sidelined in the encounter against Rangpur Riders on Saturday on the back of his strain, also wouldn’t be able to feature in their last group phase game against Khulna Tigers on Wednesday.

The former Bangladesh skipper suffered the injury during their last tie of the Sylhet phase at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium against the Khulna Tigers.

At 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the table-toppers will face Khulna, who are already out of contention after winning only two of ten games, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

The veteran pacer has scalped 12 wickets at an economy rate of 7.55.

The play-offs of this episode of BPL are scheduled from February 12 to 14, followed by the final on February 16.
