The Bangladesh Cricket Board is looking for a local coach as the assistant to their newly appointed head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, asserted a BCB high official.
‘We are thinking of someone from our local fold for this position,’ a BCB official seeking anonymity told on Sunday.
The official added that they would finalise the recruitment following the arrival of their newly appointed head coach, Chandika Hathurusingha.
‘Let’s see, we will settle it after the joining of Hathurusingha, as we would need his consent in this connection.’
There is a speculation in the country’s cricket fraternity that, the Tigers' cricket administration is considering former Bangladesh batsman Aftab Ahmed for the position.
However, the official clarified that they were yet to decide any name.
Hathurusingha was re-appointed as national team head coach by BCB last week on a two-year contract.
The 54-year-old Sri Lankan coach, who is currently staying in Australia, is anticipated to return to his old office on February 20, ahead of the forthcoming series against England that starts on March 1.
