The Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to install greenhouse training facilities for their cricketers to avoid any sort of interruption during their buildup in the rainy season, said BCB’s grounds committee chairman Mahbub Anam.
He further assured that they are already in the process of producing the specialized training space by next June inside the BCB Academy Ground.
‘We said that we were going to establish the greenhouse training facilities, which are available in Australia and New Zealand, and that is what we are set to install at the Cricket Academy Ground in Mirpur,’ said Mahbub on Wednesday.
Citing the greenhouse as a mega project, the BCB director also added that they would prepare at least twenty wickets made of natural turf at the academy ground.
"We hope to cover it by providing twenty wickets where they [players] can play during the monsoon."
Over the years, it has been seen that the Bangladesh national team campaigners alongside the first-class contracted players, have to halt their training activities during the monsoon because of the limited indoor installations.
Taking the reality of the situation seriously, the Tigers' cricket administration decided to establish a greenhouse, which they came up with during their recent trip to New Zealand.
Greenhouse training facilities refer to a particular area covered with a shed beneath the natural turf that is usually used in countries like New Zealand and Australia for uninterrupted training.
