Sumon Khan and Salahuddin Shakil ran rampant with the ball that guided Dhaka Division to script an innings and 62-run victory over the Rangpur Division in the opening round of the 24 th edition of National Cricket League on Tuesday.
Sumon who scalped 5-wickets in the first innings ended with other four while Salahuddin we claimed 2 took another four wickets to stop Rangpur for 56-9 with Naeem Islam suffering an absent hurt at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
In their first innings Ragpur were restricted to 92-9.
For Dhaka Nadif Chowdhry scored a highest 90 and skipper Taibur Rahman finished with 42 to post 210 before they were bowled out trailing their counterpart by 118-run.
For Rangpur Ariful Haque made a top 34 while other batsmen failed to go beyond 30.
In the day’s other three games Sylhet, Khulna and Barishal were led by 162, 84 and 95 runs against their Chattoram, Dhaka Metro and Rajshahi divisions respectively at stumps of day-2.
Sylhet V Chattogram
Sylhet resumed their innings in 15-0 with Imtiaz Hossain and Toufiq Khan Tusher who remained unbeaten on 4 and 11 in reply of 141-10 by their Chattogram counterpart.
However the former could add 15 runs before he was trapped leg before by Hasan Murad followed by Tusher who made his exit for 68 by Shykat Ali.
In the third wicket stand Amite Hasan and Zakir Hasan formed a 154 run partnership to pull the side to 303-7.
Amite and Zakir finished with 79, 87 respectively.
Hasan Murad claimed 5 and Ifekhar Sajjad, Shykat Ali took one wicket each.
Khulna TO Dhaka Metro
Dhaka Metro resumed their innings on 37-3 with their overnight batsmen Aminul Islam Biplob and Samsur Rahman Shuvo for 7, 20 respectively at stumps of day-1.
Aminul made 14-run more while Shuvo added four more prior to their dismissal by Samna Hossain.
In the late order 25, 23 and 22 from Md Sharifullah, Rakibul Hasan and Kazi Anik Islam respectively helped them catapult 156 before they were bowled out that trailed Khulna by 25 runs in the first innings.
Salman and Abdul Halim claimed 3 wickets each while Ziaur Rahman took 2 and Al Amin Hossain, Sk Mahadi Hasan finished with one wicket each.
In reply Khulna lost their top five batsmen for 108.
Bangladesh former U-19 campaigner Prantik Nawrose Nabil scored a highest 52.
Md Sharifullah, Manik Khan took two wickets each with Rakibul Hasan scalping one.
Barishal V Rajshahi
Barishal resumed their innings on 269-9 with Islam Tanvir and Shahin Alam who remained undefeated on 43, 5 respectively at stumps of day-1
However the duo could score 11 runs more to score 281-10.
Abu Syaem Chowdhury made 59 while Shohag gazi and Tanvir Islam bagged 56 and 51 run respectively.
In reply Rajshahi compensated their six batsmen for 186 with Pritom Kumer remaining unbeaten on 61.
Ruyel Miah, Tanvir Islam took 2 wicket each and Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Sohag Gazi claimed one each.
